The Pacific Pro Football league will debut with four teams in 2018, Yee said, and features an advisory board with prominent former NFL figures such as Mike Shanahan. Also, Northwestern’s football players lost their bid to unionize and be treated as employees of the university. Yee hopes to avoid joining a long list of failed professional football leagues, a group that includes the World Football League, the United States Football League, and the XFL.
