Shares of truckers, logistics operators and shipping companies are hitting fresh highs, a sign for investors that the Dow Jones Industrial Average could soon follow suit. The Dow Jones Transportation Average, which includes 20 large companies ranging from railroad operator CSX Corp. to delivery firm United Parcel Service Inc., climbed Monday to its 11th record close of the year. After snapping out of a lull in August, the transport index is up 8.7% in 2018.
