But I think there’s a debate to be had when books are censored not for their content, but because of their writers’ personal values and lives. The difficulty in taking the moral high ground on authors’ personal values is where do you stop bowdlerising the bookshelves? I’m also an author, with a controversial past, aware my former politics have pissed people off, so I’m in no position as a bookseller to pass judgment on the personal values of authors I’ve never met.
