New Thames Valley Police forensic facility offers 'new technology' and dedicated training


Thames Valley Police has broken ground on a new forensics centre - marking the start of a dedicated facility for investigation in its policing area, writes Catherine Barker. The centre, set to become the Forensic Investigation Unit’s main hub, will contain laboratories, new technologies and dedicated training facilities. As part of the wider Forensic Improvement Programme, the force intends to 'transform forensic services, improving investigations and outcomes for victims' in the Thames Valley, which includes the Royal Borough and Slough. The ceremony began last Thursday, with Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Barber attending. Mr Barber, who dug the first bit of ground along with other key members of the force, said:“This is an exciting new chapter for Thames Valley Police.
