To provide more support for families trying to deal with loved ones with an addiction Timaru community groups and agencies are working together to provide education evenings starting Wednesday, June 29. Salvation Army counsellor Glenn Smith said there needed to be more support for families to deal with the issues around addiction. He would like to see a place for meth addicts to go in Timaru for treatment as soon as they came to notice. The programme follows meetings between mental health and addiction agencies which exposed some gaps in assistance for addicts and their families in the district.
