New Year, New Policy, Better Health For Veterans: VA's Final Rule On APRNs


Approximately 52,000 additional primary care physicians are needed by 2025, yet only 8% of the medical residents choose primary care specialties. On the other hand, about half of all NPs deliver primary care, and their numbers will double between 2008 and 2025. Moving forward, NPs can help our country to meet the demand for growing primary care services but unfortunately often I witness a troubling reality. She is a primary care NP working in New York City. If my colleague’s patient was a veteran, he would benefit from this new VA rule.
