GEORGE TOWN: Police arrested one motorist for drink-driving and seized 26 motorcycles during an integrated operation across Penang in conjunction with the New Year celebrations. State police chief Datuk Azizee Ismail said the motorist was arrested under Section 45A(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 after screening and breathalyser tests showed alcohol levels exceeding the legal limit. He added that the motorcycles were seized for various traffic offences and illegal modifications. Common offences included motorcycles without registration numbers, failure to display P-plates, structural modifications, and non-compliant exhaust systems," he said in a statement. "Similar operations will continue to safeguard road users and curb activities that could threaten public order," he said.
