The U.S. recorded about 45,000 new coronavirus cases Saturday, lower than a day earlier, as the global death toll from the virus neared one million. Saturday’s reported cases—about 10,000 fewer than Friday’s—brought the total number of people infected in the country to 7.08 million, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. Many have recovered, but more than 204,000 have died of the disease in the U.S., according to the data.
