Jimmy Cordero, a relief pitcher for the New York Yankees, has been suspended for the remainder of the season due to a violation of Major League Baseball‘s domestic violence policy. Manfred stated that Cordero has accepted the suspension for the rest of the 2023 regular season and the playoffs. As part of Major League Baseball’s domestic violence policy, Cordero will undergo a confidential and comprehensive evaluation and participate in a treatment program. With Cordero now suspended for the remainder of the year, the Yankees have called up right-handed pitcher Randy Vásquez from their minor league affiliate, the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. In 2020, Yankees pitcher Domingo Germán was suspended for 81 games following a domestic abuse investigation, despite throwing a perfect game last week.
