New lighting and makeover for historic Grand Parade fountainTHE Berwick Fountain on Grand Parade is to be lit up for the first time in years as part of conservation and preservation works by City Hall. The refurbishment works will see the fountain get a new LED lighting system. Following the refurbishment, the Berwick Fountain will be lit in a warm white colour which will highlight its features and the renovation works. The fountain, which dates to 1860, was erected by Walter Beriwck, an important figure in the Cork judiciary, as a token of his gratitude to the city’s people.
