New opportunities for Edendale Crank UpRobyn Edie/Stuff Crank up convener and president of the Edendale Vintage Machinery club Ken Bell with his dog Evie and his half restored 1958 Fordson Major. Temporary disruption caused by a planned highway realignment could prove an opportunity for a longstanding Southland event, organisers believe. In April 2017, a question hung over the future of the Edendale Crank Up vintage machinery event as stakeholders negotiated the path of a SH1 realignment bypassing the town. The Crank Up committee were proud of the event's evolution, and delighted to now be staying put. "Many of the original committee from 1986 are still involved with the event and I do believe they're quite rightly proud of the advances that the Edendale Vintage Machinery Club has made over the years.
