New police chief selected in Calgary, to start by June

Calgary is getting a new police chief. Neufeld spent 24 years with the Edmonton Police Service and two years as the police chief in Camrose. Neufeld will begin in his new role no later than June, taking over from interim Chief Steve Barlow. “The Commission conducted an extensive national search and found a gem in our own backyard,” said Brian Thiessen, chair of the Calgary Police Commission. We set the bar very high, calling for a progressive, experienced team builder and expert communicator who acts with the highest level of respect, fairness, and compassion.”
