Newcastle United, who finished a mediocre 13th in the league last season, hailed a success by many, will continue to fulfil fixtures next season. The Saudi's claimed it was because the Premier League were confused at the ownership structure and did not want a nation state buying a club. The Premier League also couldn't possibly approve the Saudis as owners because of broadcast piracy. The piracy issue meant the Premier League lawyers were being asked to approve the Saudi state investment fund as a shareholder in the league – having fought them for three years. That constituted ripping off – stealing – content from the Premier League, and a host of other major sports organisations and broadcasters like BBC Worldwide.
