News: US provides $1.55 m for Tulu Moye Power Project in Ethiopia


Tulu Moye Geothermal Operations (TMGO), an independent energy company in Ethiopia, kicked off drilling on 04 March 2020 at its project site, Tulu Moye, Arsi Zone of Oromia Regional state, Iteya District. Addis Abeba, October 15/2020 – The United States, through the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation (DFC), has committed $1.55 million in technical development for the Tulu Moye Geothermal Power Plant Project in Ethiopia. When completed, the project will be the first independent power project to generate power at a commercial scale and one of the largest geothermal power plants in Ethiopia, a country with substantial untapped geothermal resources that can provide significant baseload power. Ethiopian company TM Geothermal Operations PLC (TMGO) is developing the Tulu Moye project, which is approximately 100 kilometers southeast of Addis Abeba. TMGO kicked off drilling on 04 March 2020 at its project site, Tulu Moye, in Arsi Zone of Oromia Regional state, Iteya District.
