Niagara police make arrest in Welland sexual assault investigation

Following a public appeal for information and a tip, Niagara police say they arrested a 40-year-old man in the sexual assaults of two teenagers. On Feb. 25, Niagara Regional Police asked residents in a Welland neighbourhood for camera footage after they said two victims reported assaults by an unknown man who offered them a ride. Police said they identified a suspect on Feb. 26 and issued a description of the man. On Feb. 27, they announced officers arrested and charged him after receiving a tip. He faces two counts of sexual assault, sexual interference and failure to comply with a release order, among other related charges.
