Nicola Sturgeon took the time to complain about a familiar Nat grievance during her meeting with Manchester mayor Andy Burnham last year. "FM and GMM discussed the measures required of the UK Government, noting in particular the need to reform the energy market. The FM noted that at present Scotland generates close to 100% of its electricity demand from renewables but gets no benefit from that." Scottish Government statistics show that Scottish renewable electricity generators alone were only capable of meeting demand for 38 per cent of the year. In 2020 Scotland's renewable electricity output was equivalent to almost 100% of its total electricity demand.
