The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has granted 13 new power generation and distribution licenses in the third quarter of 2023, its most recently released report confirms. The projects focuses on off-grid and embedded power generation, independent electricity distribution and electricity trading. NERC says the report analyses the state of the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI). Captive power plants are plants owned and maintained by the generating entity for its own consumption and not for sale to a third party.
