His remarks were relayed by his Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam to reporters outside the State Guest House Jamuna on Sunday night. The chief advisor, Shafiqul said, reiterated that polls would be held within the timeframe he announced in his address to the nation -- in the first half of February -- in a “free, fair and festive” atmosphere. If anyone thinks of an alternative to elections, it will be deeply dangerous for the nation,” Alam quoted the chief advisor as saying. The chief advisor urged all political parties to remain alert and cooperate to prevent any conspiracies or attempts to create instability around the festival.
