A woman who was just 14 when she was raped in 2010 confronted her attacker in a Halifax courtroom on Friday. Bruce Douglas Hatfield, 60, sexually assaulted her on a road trip from Yarmouth to Halifax 16 years ago. The woman told the court that she left Yarmouth as a little girl and returned from Halifax a “broken, confused and hurting teenager.”The woman went to police in 2022. Hatfield was convicted in Nova Scotia Supreme Court in December 2025 on two counts of sexual assault and two counts of sexual interference. She told Hatfield he’d robbed her of her childhood.
