The Registration Department has issued a circular instructing the sub-registrars across the State not to register lands classified as waterbodies. The sub-registrars have been asked to collect details from revenue and local body departments on the areas classified as waterbodies. The circular also said that disciplinary action will be taken if the lands classified as waterbodies are registered. “We are not registering lands classified as waterbodies now. If there are lands that are classified as waterbodies but have been registered already, we will stop re-registering those too now,” the official said.
