As I chowed down on chicken wings at Outlanders Southern Chicken, my wife struck up a conversation with a mother and daughter she recognized from football camp at Nolensville High School. My ears perked up when the discussion turned to “flaming baton twirling.” I soon learned about a simmering controversy in my own hometown which might rend the fabric of America itself.
