EventForecast models indicate that a heatwave will persist across much of Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia through at least Aug. 4. As of early July 31, the respective meteorological services have issued the following high-temperature warnings across the affected area:Red heatwave warnings: eastern Guelmim-Oued Noun and eastern Laayoune-Sakia El Hamra regions in Morocco. Orange heatwave warnings: most of Algeria and southern, central, and northern Morocco. The high temperatures are forecast to persist through at least Aug. 4. In addition to significantly impacting athletes and those who work outdoors, high temperatures can cause problems for people using mass transit.
