North Africa accounts for 60 percent of COVID-19 deaths in Africa


West Africa ranks second in highest percentage of total cases (27 percent), total deaths (17 percent) and total recovered (17 percent) in Africa. Southern, East and Central Africa respectively accounts for 16 percent, 12 percent and 8 percent of total cases recorded on the continent. Central Africa with 7 percent of total deaths and 7 percent of total recovered has the lowest death toll among the five regions. Africa has recorded 51,572 total cases, 1,950 total deaths and 17,458 total recovered of the virus. Moreover, the world has registered 3,778,012 total cases, 261,243 total deaths and 1,275,296 total recovered from COVID-19 since the outbreak of the disease late last year.
