Norway finds another Viking ship buried near largest Scandinavian burial site

COPENHAGEN — Using geo-radar, archeologists in Norway have discovered a viking ship buried in the ground near the largest burial mound site in Northern Europe. Vestfold county spokesman Terje Gansum said Monday the ship burial — where a vessel is used as a container for the dead — was found in the Borre burial mounds. The area considered one of Norway’s most important cultural heritage sites, contains the largest number of graves from the Viking Age. Along with the ship, at least eight burial mounds and five longhouses were discovered. The find is next to a museum promoting the local area’s Viking heritage.
