But before basking in the glory of our promotion to the Premier League, I feel compelled to touch upon an extraordinary few days in which the football we love came under serious threat. I am, of course, talking about the short-lived European Super League, an ill-fated attempt at a coup d’etat from the billionaire owners of some of the game’s most powerful clubs – as well as Spurs and Arsenal! The saga has also made me feel even more privileged to support a club with owners who care as deeply as ours. Returning to the Premier League at the first time of asking is notoriously difficult for any relegated side – before you even consider the abject manner in which we fell through the trapdoor following Project Restart last summer. To get from a real low ebb to sealing promotion with five games to go is an incredible achievement and it deserves real recognition.
