ONLF Signed Peace Deal with Ethiopian GovernmentOctober 22, 2018 - The Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF) signed a peace deal with the Ethiopian government on Sunday in Asmara, Eritrea, according to ENA. According to the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, this has ended one of the oldest armed struggles in the country. He was accompanied by the Minister of Finance, Ahmed Shide, and the Vice President of Somali Region, Mustafe Mohamed. The statement from the Ethiopian foreign ministery further said this is the beginning of a new chapter for peace and stability in Ethiopia, including in Somali Region. The ONLF has been making what seems to be contradicory statements in the past, including the recent announcement that it wants a referendum on the status of the Ethiopian Somali region.
