The mayor of Haldimand County is confirming that an OPP officer has been shot and killed during an incident near the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation on Tuesday. The OPP sent out an emergency alert with a description of a suspect at 5:45 p.m. The suspect vehicle is a black Chevrolet pickup truck. Sanchuk said a Haldimand County OPP officer was responding to a vehicle in a ditch on Indian Line, near Concession 14 Walpole, which is on the southern border of the Credit First Nation. Sanchuk said the call happened at around 2:40 p.m. and the officer was shot “upon arrival.” He said the officer was taken to local hospital in life-threatening condition.
