OSG clueless on $3 million sale of Marcos paintings

MANILA, Philippines — The Office of the Solicitor-General (OSG) has admitted that it was not aware of the sale of three of about 200 artworks owned by the Marcos family during an auction in New York City in November last year. All three were subject of a pending civil forfeiture case before the anti-graft court Sandiganbayan. Monet’s work was sold for $2.6 million, Sisley’s for $900,000 and Marquet’s for about $90,000. “The OSG had no prior knowledge of the sale and the details thereof or of the supposed court order. While the undersigned has requested the PCGG for the details, the documentation/written information is still forthcoming,” the OSG’s manifestation read.
