The Mann Cup defending national champion Peterborough Century 21 Lakers are expected to compete in a six-team league for the 2023 Major Series Lacrosse club after the Oakville Rock pulled out of the league for a second year in a row. “The Oakville Rock have requested a second one-year hiatus,” MSL commissioner Lynn Withers stated. The Major Series Lacrosse governors have approved both requests and look forward to seeing the Rock participate in 2024. Scheduled to compete in the 2023 season are the Brampton Excelsiors, Brooklin Lacrosse Club, Cobourg Kodiaks, Owen Sound North Stars, Six Nation Chiefs and the Lakers. The Owen Sound North Stars and the Brampton Excelsiors reached an agreement on players last month which will allow both cities to have teams this season.
