President Obama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel delivered a joint rebuttal Thursday to the populist pledges of Donald Trump, calling for more transatlantic cooperation on everything from security and climate change to fighting intolerance. On his last overseas trip as president, Obama is meeting with Merkel, a centrist leader whom observers see as the heir apparent to his legacy as the leading global advocate of liberal democracy.
