Samuel Awoyinfa and Kunle FalayiA former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has called on all Africans to give the necessary cooperation and support to the new government in Zimbabwe. Obasanjo said in a congratulatory letter to the new President, Emmerson Mnangagwa, a copy of which was made available to one of our correspondents on Friday. The former president noted that he was convinced that the interim leader in Zimbabwe would be an asset to the country. Mnangagwa, who served as Mugabe’s right-hand man for most of his 37-year rule, promised reforms, which would lift Zimbabwe out of poverty and promised to stamp out rampant corruption. To me personally, he remains a father, mentor, comrade in arms and my leader,” Mnangagwa said, calling on the Zimbabweans to “let bygones be bygones.”Copyright PUNCH.
