Of low-trust society and why fakes will be the death of us

We are a trust deficit society. While the rest of the world is run on trust, we don’t trust those who work for us and the systems designed to make us work better and efficiently. For example, the people don’t trust that the police don’t know where Caroline Kangogo is; we don’t trust the church that much (quite sad); spouses don’t trust each other; we don’t trust our neighbours that much; we don’t trust that the teacher is fair enough when they award our children marks; employees steal time from their employers; we don’t trust that our government is competent enough to provide the solutions for which we pay taxes and we don’t trust the politicians will do what they ought to be doing which is working for the people. Trust shapes how the world works. Those in authority seldom do their job while goods and services are comparatively costlier in a low-trust society.
