'Ofori-Atta should not have been Finance Minister' – Franklin Cudjoe

Business News of Saturday, 11 April 2026Source: starrfm.com.ghThe President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has criticised the tenure of former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, stating that he was not suited for therole. Speaking on Starring Chat with Bola Ray on Starr 103.5 FM on Thursday, April 9, 2026, Cudjoe said Ofori-Atta lacked a firm grasp of public finance, despite his background in private sector practice. “I realised that he shouldn’t have become Finance Minister… frankly, he never understood public finance,” he stated. While acknowledging that experience in private business can be relevant to public administration, Cudjoe argued that Ofori-Atta’s approach in office did not reflect prudent financial management. “I don’t think he understood finance the way we had structured it because… he tried to basically dismantle most of the structures within the public sector,” he added.
