Transport Department says licence given to aggregator lapsed in June 2021The Transport Department has served a notice to ride sharing aggregator Ola directing it to stop operations. L. Hemantha Kumara, Additional Commissioner, Transport Department, and Secretary of Karnataka State Transport Authority (KSTA) told The Hindu that the licence issued to Ola had lapsed in June this year. “We had issued it to Ola to provide taxi services in June 2016, and it has expired. This is not the first time that Ola has faced the ire of the Transport Department. In March 2019, the department had suspended the licence for illegally providing bike taxi services.
