Hopes of a white Christmas in the borough have been scuppered, as the Met Office anticipates temperatures as hot as seven degrees and for it to only drop as low as six. From midnight until 6am, Santa may need to navigate his sleigh through rain as meteorologists anticipate a 40 percent chance in the borough. For the next three hours until noon, rain should hold off with only a 10 percent chance of rainfall and temperatures at six degrees. In spite of the predictions, the Met Office can only accurately forecast if snow is likely on Christmas Day up to five days beforehand. On Christmas Eve, forecasters predict heavy rain to take place throughout the day.
