Oldham headteacher calls phone ban policy 'farcical'

The Department for Education is set to provide schools with new guidance that recommends the banning of mobile phones during the entire school day. Glyn Potts, headteacher at Newman RC College, insisted the policy solved a 'non-issue' adding: “We’ve had the same policy for the last 10 years. He continued: “The majority of schools do teach young people about the safe use of mobile phones. She wrote: “Uniform expense, getting their children into a local school with their siblings, food poverty, fuel poverty, housing. "I’ve never had a local school raise mobile smart phones as the issue.”
