Over on Block Lane in Chadderton, multi-way traffic lights and signals have been put up for various construction work. Official notices released last week maps out the 60 different roadworks which are taking place across the borough this month which includes temporary traffic lights scheduled for 28 different works while 25 roads will be narrowed to single-file traffic. One man said: "There have been traffic lights and road closure around Eaves Lane, Fields New Road and everywhere in between for about a year. "I was caught in the lights near Block Lane the other day and just sat there when I could easily of carried on. "There seems to be a thing these days about having three and four-way traffic lights which are in many cases totally unnecessary.
