The Department of Education has released its annual performance tables, which includes overall results for each secondary school in the country based on GCSE results. Oldham secondary schools received an average Attainment 8 score of 42.2, which is slightly below the overall national average of 43.7. In 2025, 36.4 per cent of GCSE pupils achieved Grade 5 or above in English and maths, which, again, is only slightly below the overall national average of 43.7 per cent. Hulme Grammar School followed closely behind with an Attainment 8 score of 58.8 and 66.7 per cent of pupils achieving Grade 5 or above in English and maths. At the other end of the league tables, Waterhead Academy achieved an Attainment 8 score of 34 and 22 per cent of students achieved Grade 5 or above in English and maths GCSE.
