Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has dismissed Robin van Persie’s criticism of him and claimed that the former Manchester United and Netherlands striker is living in “medieval times”. Van Persie criticised Solskjaer for being too upbeat during an interview after United’s 2-0 defeat by Arsenal at the Emirates on Wednesday. “I would like to see him a bit more mean at times, just be angry,” Van Persie, who played for United for three seasons, said. This is not the moment to smile.”Van Persie’s comments drew a cutting rebuke from Solskjaer yesterday. The Norwegian is usually a diplomatic operator during media appearances but on this occasion the United manager gave Van Persie both barrels.
