Olympics Audience Shrinks, but NBC Touts Win


The audience for Olympics programming just on the NBC broadcast network is down 16% compared with four years ago. NBC’s Olympics coverage is “delivering what I anticipated them to be delivering, maybe even slightly better.”NBC, a unit of Comcast Corp., said it sold more than $900 million in national advertising for the Games. The Games are providing a significant boost for the NBC Sports Network, which is typically an also-ran to ESPN. From last Saturday through Wednesday, NBC Sports’ prime-time audience average is 2.3 million, nearly 10 times what it had been in the previous four weeks.
