A professor of virology, Oyewale Tomori, on Monday took a swipe on the Federal Government for the travel ban imposed on Nigeria by Canada and the United Kingdom. Tomori said this at the national COVID-19 summit organised by the presidential steering committee (PSC), saying the ban came because the Federal Government “condoned errors of commission”. Following the reported cases of Omicron COVID variant, Canada and UK issued travel bans on South Africa and other African countries, including Nigeria. Chairman of PSC and Secretary to the Goverment of the Federation, Mr Boss Mustapha, however, lamented that with the emergence of Omicron, Nigeria, like some other countries have become targets of restrictive measures. A few days ago, I had to know there was Omicron in Nigeria from outside.
