Maria Fernanda Amorim and her family inherited the fortune of Américo Amorim, who died in 2017 after sixty years at the helm of Corticeira Amorim and investments in the energy and banking sector. Amorim holds an 18% stake in Galp Energia, whose company is chaired by his eldest daughter, Paula Amorim. Although the Amorim family's fortune dropped from US$4.8 billion in 2019 to US$3.8 billion in 2020, this amount was almost fully recovered in 2021.
