The North West town has seen its infection rates rise dramatically in the past few weeks, despite a local lockdown being enforced. The town has had the highest case rate for a number of days and today clocked a seven-date infection rate of 204.1. That means that for every 100,000 people in Bolton, 204 have caught the bug since last Wednesday - or one in every 500. This is the highest rate in England and it is up from 152.0 in the seven days to September 6. The town's coronavirus rate continues to tick upwards despite efforts to enforce social distancing via restrictive measures.
