Police say at about 1:45 a.m. on Boxing Day, the fire department responded to a home 11 kilometres east of the community on the Alaska Highway. HAINES JUNCTION, YUKON—Yukon RCMP say one person is dead following a house fire near Haines Junction. RCMP say the structure was completely destroyed by fire and an initial investigation determined a person may have been inside. Early Thursday, police say human remains were recovered from the scene. No cause has been determined, but police say the fire is not considered suspicious.
