Zarrabian, who trained as a doctor, recalled that lead paint used in old homes could be dangerous and, before buying their 1961 bungalow, read Health Canada’s advice on lead paint in houses. The Canadian government limits the allowable amount of lead in house paint to just 90 ppm. Zarrabian emailed her complaints to Health Canada about the outdated lead information on its website. “It is precisely for the reasons stated in the government’s defense that Health Canada employees felt no legal duty to update their webpage on lead paint,” she wrote back.
