Only 160 passengers per train at LRT-2 during ‘new normal’

MANILA, Philippines — Only 160 passengers, or 10% of its 1,600-rider capacity, would be allowed to board each train of the Light Rail Transit-2 (LRT-2) once its resumes operation, the Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) said Wednesday. LRTA manages LRT-2. Banners, posters, and other visual aids would likewise be put up to inform passengers about health protocols at LRT-2 stations, LRTA noted. Simulation exercises on the implementation of the guidelines were conducted Wednesday by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) and LRT-2 management to prepare for the “new normal.”Meanwhile, Metro Manila police chief Major Gen. Debold Sinas assured security for LRT-2 passengers once the train operations resume. Metro Manila has been under a modified enhanced community quarantine, which prohibits the operation of public transportation.
