President Donald Trump and his former national security adviser John Bolton were among the few in the US administration who cared about helping Brexiteers, Bolton has said in his new book. “Unfortunately, apart from Trump and myself, almost no one in the administration seemed to care. Mr Bolton writes that “Brexit’s fundamental impetus was the accelerating loss of citizen control over the Brussels-based mechanisms of the European Union. Mr Trump is trying to block the publication of the book, though it has been leaked to the Washington Post and other US media ahead of publication. Mr Bolton was Mr Trump’s longest service national security adviser, accompanying him in his meetings with Russia’s Vladimir Putin, China’s Xi Jinping and North Korea’s Kim Jong-un.
