TORONTO — Politicians of all stripes paid tribute Sunday to Chris Stockwell, the former Etobicoke councillor, provincial cabinet minister and Speaker of the Ontario legislature who died of cancer at the age of 60. Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne, Toronto Mayor John Tory and former PC leader Tim Hudak were also among those tweeting their memories of Stockwell, as well as condolences to his family. “I knew Chris Stockwell as a fiery, passionate person who brought life to the Ontario legislature,” wrote Wynne. He was also the Speaker of the legislature for nearly three years under premier Mike Harris. Stockwell held the cabinet portfolios of labour, environment and energy, as well as the title of government house leader.
