KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 21): An opposition parliamentarian has accused the government of being over-optimistic about the economy in Budget 2017. Liew Chin Tong , the DAP MP for Kluang, said the Budget did not address significant challenges that Malaysia is facing amid the global economic slowdown. “So it seems that the PM is assessing the entire economic condition in an over-optimistic manner. “We have to understand Malaysia is undergoing a contraction of economy, whether in terms of exports or revenue collected. In the long run, we are going to suffer, because the structural problems of the economy are not being addressed,” he said.
