Yes, it’ll be a close battle for number two between Daddy's Home 2 and Murder on the Orient Express behind Thor: Ragnarok, but both weekend’s wide newbies are winners. This is Paramount’s fourth-biggest debut since Daddy’s Home ($38m) two years ago, which isn’t exactly something to brag about. The first Daddy’s Home held its ground against The Force Awakens and snagged $240 million worldwide on a $50m budget. The robust Friday numbers for Murder on the Orient Express are a big win for Fox. To paraphrase next weekend’s biggie, you can’t score a $25 million+ weekend alone.
